Our Award Winning Race to Zero Attached Housing Design.
In 2018, Warrior Home participated in the U.S. Department of Energy’s Race to Zero Design Competition for the first time. Based on a real-world scenario, the competition challenged students to update an existing house plan to the US Department of Energy Net-Zero-Energy Ready Home specification. The 2018 competition had 84 teams competing from 9 countries. Warrior Home’s optimized townhouse design placed first in the attached housing category!
Kehl-0 is an attached housing project located in the cold climate of Kitchener, Canada. Working with Habitat for Humanity Waterloo Region, Warrior Home’s design bridges the gap between affordability and energy efficiency. Kehl-0 is a representation of an affordable way to achieve a net-zero energy ready home by implementing constructability, operation, and lifestyle guides for construction workers, volunteers, and families who will live in these homes.
